There are various ways one can be a better Texas Holdem Poker player than
he already is. The most obvious method is to play better and win more.
But that's for your personal interests alone. Another way to become a
better player is to be aware of the commonly violated rules in the game -
and then some - to ensure that nobody gets cheated without them knowing
it.
So how about it? Do you wish to become a better Texas Holdem player starting right now?
Texas Holdem Rule #1 - Time is of the Essence. There's a saying that time is gold. It's true, especially in Texas Holdem! No poker player can afford to take all the time he needs to make a move. If he wants the game to give him that right, he'll only be limited to playing online free poker games and even those sometimes will time out on slow players.
Texas Holdem Rule #1A - How Long is Long? If all of you have been waiting for 245,000 years for the player to make his move, it's time to call for the dealer to clock him.
If there's a request to clock a player, the latter shall be given a minute to think of his next move. If, after that, he is still unable to decide whether or not to fold, bet or raise, the dealer shall initiate a 10-second countdown.
That is the player's last opportunity to move. When the 10 seconds expire, his hand will be immediately declared dead!
Texas Holdem Rule #1B - Say Clock or Time When a player calls "time", the same rules apply as well.
Texas Holdem Rule #2 - AWOL in Poker No matter what the reason, if one of the players on the table leaves, his hand will be immediately killed. His loss, your gain!
Texas Holdem Rule #3 - Don't Touch It! If your live hand accidentally touches the muck, we're sorry to say that your hand has to be killed.
Texas Holdem Rule #4 - Foreign Chips Any chip that is classified as foreign is not allowed on the poker table.
Texas Holdem Rule #5 - I Want My Raise Back! Let's say you made the raise then suddenly had a split-second change of mind. If the dealer hasn't called your raise yet, you're entitled to get your money back but if and only the dealer hasn't declared your move. Better to just slow down a bit and be sure before you bet.
Texas Holdem Rule #6 - Placement of Chips ALL Texas Holdem players must keep ALL their chips visible at ALL times.
